Vendredi, Noah reçoit une invitation. Sur l'invitation, il lit : « Fête costumée — vendredi à 19 h. Prix pour le meilleur costume ! » Noah est très content, mais il a un problème : il n'a que 12 €.
Noah prépare son costume. D'abord, son amie Lina lui offre un masque noir. Noah met le masque. Puis, il trouve une perruque rouge dans une boîte chez sa tante. Il met la perruque. « C'est parfait ! » dit Noah.
Mais Noah veut un costume encore plus extraordinaire. Il porte de grandes lunettes et un nœud papillon. Il met aussi une longue écharpe. Dans sa main droite, il tient une baguette magique. Dans sa main gauche, il tient un petit panier.
Sur le chemin de la fête, Noah perd son chapeau. Il n'a pas d'argent pour acheter un autre chapeau. Alors, il utilise un parapluie comme chapeau. Lina regarde Noah et dit : « Ce n'est pas un chapeau ! » Noah répond : « Maintenant, si ! »
À la porte de la fête, Noah voit une étiquette sur son costume : « 8 € ». Il rit. Il ajoute un ruban à son panier. Puis il met des gants, une fausse moustache et son parapluie-chapeau.
À la fête, tout le monde regarde Noah. Une personne demande : « Tu es qui ? Un magicien ? Un détective ? Un roi ? » Noah répond : « Je suis… Noah ! » À la fin de la soirée, Noah reçoit le prix du meilleur costume : un ticket pour le cinéma. Son costume coûte seulement 8 €.
